The subsequent gathering at Castel Gandolfo placed the same program before a religious leader. Those were distinct encounters, even though both were part of the group's ten-day itinerary. Neither should be treated as proof of a continuing partnership between the presidency and ABF beyond the documented visit.
According to the Quirinale's official biography, Mattarella was born in Palermo in 1941, studied law at Rome's Sapienza University and taught parliamentary law at the University of Palermo.
